The stigmata of bad boys for centuries, tattooing has undergone a revolution and its recent huge popularity has made it part of everyday life. It’s now seen as an art form in its own right, with its own schools, followers, copycats and geniuses. To understand how in 50 years tattooing have moved from the backstreet to the main stream, we decided to ask those who have shaped its history and contributed to this transformation.
From their parlors all over the world, Mark Mahoney, Filip Leu, Paul Booth, Tin-Tin, Lyle Tuttle, Jack Rudy or Shige tell us how they took part to the popularization of tattooing.
