Hebron is the largest city in the West Bank with a population of 215,000 Palestinians. In the heart of the city, 800 Israeli settlers and 17 units of the Hebrew State army ensure their security and control the Palestinian population. At the end of the street is the Tomb of the Patriarchs where Abraham (for the Jews) or Ibrahim (for the Muslims), their common ancestor, is buried. Both come here on pilgrimage. It has become one of the most segregated, controlled and monitored areas in the Middle East. It is also one of the most filmed places in the world. Through these images and interviews with Hebron’s military commanders, “Hebron-Palestine, the occupation lab” tells the story of a place that is both a microcosm of the entire conflict and a test site for the methods of control that Israel is implementing throughout the West Bank. A relentless narrative by Israeli directors Idit Avrahami and Noam Sheizaf. A critical film that has become one of the targets of the new Israeli government.
