November 25, 1959. Gérard Philipe, 37 years old, had just been mowed down at the height of his career by an illness he didn’t know he had. In the hours that followed, a colorful, anonymous and compact crowd converged on his home for a final tribute. Gérard Philipe was not content to be the greatest actor of his time. He took part in all the battles of his time: a resistance fighter, a militant against the atomic bomb and for peace during the worst of the Cold War, a defender of culture within the TNP and a militant for popular education. Built on a series of flashbacks in all archives, this documentary adapted from the novel by Jérôme Garcin and directed by Patrick Jeudy is a commemoration, in 2022, of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Gérard Philipe.
