From 1941 to the fall of the Reich, in Belarus, Poland, France and Germany, tens of thousands of French citizens chose to take up arms alongside the Nazis. They were witnesses and eager participants in their crimes, notably within the LVF (Légion des Volontaires Français) and the SS Charlemagne Division. Drawing on military, judicial and personal archives, some of them previously unseen, this film challenges the incomplete accounts of survivors, uncovers the reality of these French citizens’ participation in the Holocaust, and sheds light on a little-known chapter in the history of French collaboration and the far right.
