Hacking for the Commons

Computing has now infiltrated almost all human activities. Has it contributed to ma¬king us more self-reliant? Or has it turned us into passive consumers of what has become a total market? Two logics oppose one another today at the very heart of technology since the emancipating principles of free software have shaken «priva¬tive» rights since the 1980s.
Behind this battle that is global but without territories, there is something essen¬tial at stake: the ability to ensure that these technologies serve the common good rather than benefit a happy few.
